Hemachandra hit the national headlines as the singing prodigy who made it to the finals of the nation-wide talent hunt of Zee Saregamapa 2005. Since then there has been no looking back for the youngster. He has been learning Carnatic music since the age of 13 under supervision of his mother V. Sasikala Swamy who is a singer by profession. Later he started learning Hindustani classical under Sri. Jangaiah.

From the time he was young, Hemachandra has performed on stage in the presence of eminent singers. Hemachandra has recorded a few playback songs in Hindi, such as Sabse Alag from the film Alag and Chalo Dil Daar Chalo from Dil Diya Hai. He has also performed in several telugu songs, including two songs from the movie Vamsham before SRGMP 2005. He also sang in the superhit telugu album Swasa. Apart from this he has also sung in Assamese.

Not only an amazing singer, Hemachandra also proves himself to be a wonderful host. He has been anchoring the show Sa re ga ma pa Lil Champs aired on Zee Telugu since 2007. Hema also proved himself to be a good dubbing artist. He did dubbing in the movie Rainbow for the main lead actor Rahul.

After winning accolades for lending voice to soulful numbers, Hemachandra is now all set for a change in role. The 20-year-old Hyderabadi playback singer is turning a music director with the film Ride. Recently, Hema had a stepping stone in his life. He completed singing 50 songs in the Telugu film industry.
