Shankar Mahadevan - Music Ka Maha Muqabla
It is hard to believe that this 3 time National Award winner actually started off as a computer engineer. The world of Indian music only got richer when Shankar decided to pursue a career in music leaving behind the field of technology.
Shankar was not alien to music. He has been playing the Veena from the age of 5, giving his first recital at the age of 11. Shankar became popular in the Tamil Film Industry. He gained nationwide recognition once his album Breathless released. Shankar has won National Awards for Best Male Playback Singer for the songs Yenna Solla Pogirai (Tamil) in 2000 and for Maa in 2008.
He is a part of music director trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy who brought in a refreshing new sound to Indian Films. The trio bagged the National Award for their music for the film Kal Ho Na Ho. Shankar is one of India's top voices. Be it the soulful Maa or the folkish Jhoom Barabar Jhoom or the peppy Wake up Sid, Shankar's silky voice slips into a variety of tunes with tremendous ease bringing peace to the listener's heart.
