Bareilly Curfew - things will never be the same again
Its been 14 days since curfew being imposed in my hometown, Bareilly, because of some some communal clashes. The condition wasn't that worse initially and was actually improving, but when the authorities accused Maulana Tauqeer for provoking the mob on 2nd March, things started to get worse. A community stands up in his favour and as a result a particular vote bank forced the U.P. governmnet to order his release. It made the victims of 2nd March communal clashes and another community to lost its faith in the BSP Government and as a result their anger bursted out. It caused shopkeepers and Truck owner to suffer heavy losses.
The question, that has been going through my mind for so long what actually caused the clash. It never happened during Ayodha 1992 and Gujarat violence 2002. Bareilly people had a good understanding and I think they still have. Its just some people who wanted to make their political background using the religion. Not even these people, even the government and opposition trying to cash on it as much as they can.
I am so worried about all those daily wage workers, rickshaw pullers and vendors who have to work everyday to feed themselves and their family. Its been 14 days and I know their families will be starving. I am so sure that the authorities did nothing about them. These people doesn't matter to them as they can't speakout being behind poverty line.
As media and bareilly authorities claimed that things coming to normal to Bareilly, but I know it will never be the same again. It takes only a second to lose faith and years to build up. People of one community will definitly think twice before entering the densely populated area of the other. I just wish and wanted to see the same brotherhood as it used to be. We people from Bareilly loves peace more than anything.
